Bible Verses about Psalms of consolation

I don’t know if King David ever endured an actual storm from mother nature. But it’s obvious from reading the Bible that his life was filled with many personal storms. For starters, his brothers disliked him. Additionally, a jealous King Saul tried to kill him on more than one occasion. His own son Absalom attempted a coup against David’s throne.

Psalms of consolation

Psalm 9:9 

“The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.”

Psalm 22:24 

“For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; nor has He hidden His face from Him; but when he cried to Him, He heard.”

Psalm 23:4 

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 27:1 

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Psalm 30:5 

“…Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”

Psalm 34:17-18 

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.”

Psalm 91:2-4

“I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge…”

Psalm 94:19 

“In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.”

Psalm 119:50, 52 

“This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life. I remembered Your judgments of old, O Lord, and have comforted myself.”


Psalm 119:76 

“Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant.”

In conclusion, I pray these psalms of comfort uplift your spirit in whatever storm you are experiencing. You may have lost everything but God knows. More importantly He cares for you. Even in the dark times of life you have someone to turn to to find peace and rest for your soul.
