The history of slavery in the Bible teaches us that God has always wanted a free people, but many times because of our decisions we tie ourselves to spiritual and physical chains that are very complicated. To understand this topic we have prepared a list of Bible Verses on Slavery.

Galatians 5:1

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

John 8:34

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.”

Romans 8:15

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

John 8:36

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Isaiah 58:6

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?”

Proverbs 22:7

Slavery in the Old Testament was physical, in the New Testament many were slaves to their passions and greed. The meaning of slavery in the Bible is clear and goes hand in hand with sin.
